Rick Ross has a long memory and he has not forgotten the hit song “Party Rock Anthem” by LMFAO.
The rapper has filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against dance rock group for swiping pieces of his hit record “Hustlin’”.
The 37 year old rapper is not pleased with the fact that the 2010 song has lyrics “Everyday I’m shuffln’,” which are very close to his raps, “Everyday I’m hustlin’.”
“The use of ‘Hustlin’ in ‘Party Rock Anthem’ is readily apparent, despite the slight change from ‘Everyday I’m hustlin” to ‘Everyday I’m shufflin” and constitutes, inter alia, the creation of an unauthorized derivative work,” the lawsuit claims in documents obtained by The Hollywood Reporter.
The lawsuit also says, “The phrase is so important to the success of ‘Party Rock Anthm,’ that LMFAO launched a highly successful clothing line, Party Rock Clothing, that features the phrase on T-shirts and other clothing items.”
The rapper seeks an injunction and maximum statutory damages from LMFAO
