In line with government’s partnership with the arts, the Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah initiated a poignant conversation with award-winning artiste, Stonebwoy via Instagram. The Minister admonished persons in the industry to diversify into other viable businesses.
He also promised to set up a meeting for the Minister of Tourism, Arts & Culture, Barbara Oteng Gyasi to interact with some members of the industry to discuss core matters relating to the industry.
True to his words, on June 11, 2020, Hon. Oppong Nkrumah facilitated a virtual meeting that had Hon. Oteng Gyasi and some stakeholders including Bessa Simons, Ag. Chairman of the Musicians Union of Ghana, as well as musicians – E.L, Efya, Stonebwoy, Trigmatic and others.
The meeting saw the discussion of how digital channels can be maximized to generate revenue streams in this time of Covid-19.
The issue of the Creative Arts Bill and the support it needs to ensure its ratification was also discussed.
