All it had to take was a poignant speech and he’s won himself a deal!
The Government of Ghana, through its Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture has appointed the rapper, Sarkodie as an Ambassador for the ‘Year of Return’ initiative.
This comes just weeks after the rapper, in his acceptance speech for winning BET Hip Hop Awards ‘Best International Flow’ – implored persons in the diaspora to choose Ghana and the ‘Year of Return’ activities anytime they visit Ghana.
This is what he said;
“I just want to say thank you to the Almighty God. To my family, this one is for my lil girl Titi…. I think Africa has always had it and it is about that time. This year is the Year of Return and I will urge each and every one of you here to take a trip back home. When you’re coming to Africa, choose Ghana.”
The announcement was made during the first ever Creative Arts Summit held at the National Theater. The rapper was also given a citation for his contribution to the Initiative, which is expected to bring multitude of tourists to the country.
The “Year of Return, Ghana 2019” is a major landmark marketing campaign targeting the African – American and Diaspora Market to mark 400 years of the first enslaved African arriving in Jamestown Virginia.
