BUT WHY? Miss America Contestants Will No Longer Wear Swimsuit At The Pageant

Some beauty pageants in Ghana, for a while, have shunned the segment of swimsuits in their respective competitions and some have tweaked the segment to make it more ‘acceptable’. America is now getting on to the program – can state!

The organizers of the Miss America beauty pageant are embracing the concept of “inner beauty”. It’s just been revealed that contestants will no longer be required to wear swimsuits during the beauty pageant.

According to the organizers, in place of the swimsuit segment of the competition, the contestants will now take part in a live interactive session with the judges. They will demonstrate their passion, intelligence and overall understanding of the job of Miss America.

But the swimsuit isn’t the only thing going, the pageant is also scrapping the evening wear segment trading it for any outfit that makes each contestant feel confident, express their personal style and show how they hope to advance the role of Miss America.

“We are no longer a pageant,” Gretchen Carlson, the first former Miss America to be named chair of the Board of Trustees of the Miss America Organization, said. “We are a competition.”
