Who said there are no movies? Close to 20 Films Nominated for 2016 Ghana Movie Awards

There was some skepticism among Ghanaian movie followers and critics on whether the organizers of the annual Ghana Movie Awards would get ‘enough’ movies to nominate for this year’s edition of the awards.

Their concern, as www.entertainmentgh.com can surmise, stemmed from the lack of activity within the movie fold and the obvious dearth of interest by patrons to Ghanaian movies.

Well, to the amazement of many and contrary to the perception of not ‘enough’ movies being released for the eligibility year of the awards – close to 20 different Ghanaian films received nominations for the upcoming awards slated for December 4, 2016.

In a hurriedly-organized nomination release event, Kobi Rana’s movie, ‘Sala’ received the most nominations with 14 nods.

Leila Djansi’s ‘Like Cotton Twines’ received a total of 13 mentions, followed by ‘Children of The Mountain’ with 12 nominations.

The 2016 Ghana Movies Awards will be held at the Kempinski Hotel on December 4. A nominee’s party will be held on November 26th ahead of the main ceremony.
