TIME TO ‘BLOW’! Spoken Word Artist, Nenebi Is Highly Underrated But Ready To Make A Mark

Ghanaian Poetry and Spoken Word, in the last decade has gained some tremendous traction and appeal but just a handful of the practitioners are given the needed recognition and there are other hard working and enterprising folks who have been projecting the craft for quite a while – and Nenebi has been at that forefront!

Nenebi is no average poet/spoken word act; he has such an impressive repertoire – a critically acclaimed album and two resounding mixtapes – all in a spate of just few years.

He is learned, politically incorrect, brusque and unapologetic and such characteristics are heavily depicted in his material – and what is more refreshing is his ability to stay true to himself, his environment and his background – articulating his lines like a true African.

Nenebi is not just a spoken word act; his grasp of the rudiments of music is telling and he has never backed away from inculcating quality music and features in his productions.

As a true believer of show business, he invests heavily in his works, producing videos to most of his productions and he’s been at it since 2014.

Nenebi is a story teller – and his ability to draw his followers through every plot of his tales and make them ‘stick and stay’ is ingenious.

Over the years, he’s worked with other high-profile professionals – from musicians to music video directors; Edem, Mzbel, Worlanyo Ansah, Kobi Rana, Moesha Bodoung among many others.

With such an embodiment of work produced in the last couple of years, Nenebi deserves much more reverence and recognition and surely, 2018 is just that year!

He is out with ‘Brown Sugar’, originally produced in 2015, where he took the title via inspiration from the 2002 American romantic comedy movie starring Sanaa Lathan and Taye Diggs.

The new single features producer/singer, Danny Beats – who complements Nenebi’s frankness on love with his soothing voice.
