One of the issues that have bedeviled the creative industry in Ghana is the unavailability of event venues and the President of the nation, President Nana Akufo-Addo, wants to do something about it. www.entertainmentgh.com can state!
The President has promised to build ultra-modern theatres in the capitals of the Northern, Ashanti and Western regions.
Nana Akufo-Addo says the theatres will form part is government’s commitment to boost the potential of the creative arts industry.
“We are committed to building multi-purpose theaters in Takoradi, Kumasi and Tamale. It is sad that it has taken this long, but we should make good this serious omission in our artistic and cultural infrastructure,” the president said.
He was speaking at the 10th Anniversary of Ghana International School’s annual Drama night.
What is intriguing about the promise is the fact that, the President did not give any timeline for the establishment of these theatres and interestingly, the building of these theatres was not captured in the 2017 Budget, which was read just a week or so ago.
It must be noted, that the establishment of theatres in all regions except Greater Accra was stipulated in the NPP Manifesto that saw it win power in the 2016 General Elections.
