Born Asonaba Kwaku Darko,Super OD, who died at the Agona Swedru Government Hospital on Tuesday, February 13 2018 after battling a long illness was buried on Saturday.May 19,2018.
Among the numerous sympathizers who gathered at the funeral grounds at Agona Abodom in the Central Region to pay their last respect to the late actor were a delegation from the National Democratic Congress,led by Former President Mahama, Allotey Jacobs of the NDC, Minister for Tourism ,arts and Culture Madam Catherine Afeku and fellow actors.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Kwasi Aboagye,on Peace FM’s Entertainment Review, the Tourism Minister, disdainfully stated that, the opposition NDC hijacked the funeral by turning it into a mini rally— displaying their party paraphernalia all over the funeral grounds:
“It was very awkward and uncomfortable to see so many people clad in NDC colours at the funeral grounds as if it was an NDC event— in fact it was like a mini NDC rally,” she noted.
When asked to clarify what she meant by NDC turning the funeral into a mini rally, Madam Afeku explained;
“I went to the funeral because I know Super OD was an industry person but I was surprised to hear the Central Regional chairman of the NDC party Allotey Jacobs label Super OD an NDC member when he mounted the podium to speak.”
Super OD, was popular in Akan drama series Osofo Dadzie and Obra in the late ’80s and ’90s.
