If You Won VGMA ‘Artist of the Year’ 2013 To 2017, The Award Is Mine – Shatta Wale

If it isn’t Shatta Wale to make such an audacious and brazen statement, who else would?

The most popular Ghanaian artist in the last couple of years, Shatta Wale ( argue all you want) – is out talking about the VGMAs again, this time, laying claim to the ‘Artist of the Year’ accolade, especially for years he did not contend.

Speaking to Dr. Pounds on Hitz FM a couple of days ago and monitored by, Shatta stated that, he’s the true winner of the topmost award at the biggest music awards in Ghana, Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, from 2013, where he generated the headlines for his foolhardiness, destroying stuff at the Awards over the loss of the ‘Dancehall Song of the Year’ to Kaakie.

He stated emphatically, that if any artist won the VGMA ‘Artist of the Year’ between the period of 2013 to 2017, that honour is his!

The artist, who is basking in the glory of creating such a buzz after having an audience with President Akufo Addo, also asserted that, any artist who has a plaque for ‘Artist of the Year’ within that period should delude himself that he worked that hard.

Here are the persons who are in possession of Shatta Wale’s ‘awards’;

On the possibility of filing for nominations come next year, Shatta opined that, it is likely he might, and most especially for the sake of The Miltants, who, according to the him, have worked hard during the eligibility year.
