I Am Uncomfortable With Sarkodie’s Song – Kuami Eugene Reacts

Clearly, Ghanaians still do not have a better grasp on politics and celebrity endorsement for political parties and politicians, and that fact was even made clearer after a section of the public attacked musician, Kuami Eugene, over his feature on Sarkodie’s new song,’Happy Day’, which many have tagged as an endorsement for the sitting President, Nana Akufo Addo.

Reacting to the backlash and the trends the song is making, Kuami Eugene says he is uncomfortable with the song and the reaction it is eliciting from a section of the public.

Speaking to MzGee on Showbuzz on 3FM 92.7, and monitored by www.entertainmentgh.com, he stated that he’s uncomfortable with the song and the endorsement of Prez. Akufo Addo, something that happened at his blind side.

“I have every right to be uncomfortable with the song, because, I hate to be kept in the shadows,” he added.

According to him, the verse that was sent to him, out of which he crafted the chorus was an inspirational song and not a political song. He only got to hear the shouts to Prez. Nana Addo and his achievements in the song during the shoot for the video.

“It was during the video shoot that I first heard the endorsement for the President with the tags of ‘Nana Toaso’ and the Battle is the Lord’s,” he explained.

He went on to say that his discomfort caused him to alert his management to reach out to Sarkodie’s management for clarity, and the guys from Sarkcess stated that, the song is not an endorsement song.

“I am uncomfortable but not disappointed in the final outcome of the song because it is craft and Sarkodie mau have his reasons for doing that and I won’t trash it.”
