Beiersdorf Ghana is uplifting the community with such good deeds, especially in a tumultuous year, heavily affected by the novel corona virus.
Following Beiersdorf Ghana’s donation of 1.7million Ghana Cedis (€250,000) to Food For All Africa (FFAA), an additional Food Van has been purchased to make more food available to vulnerable members of the community.
This was made known during the handing over ceremony of the food Van to FFAA at the Beiersdorf head office in Accra.
In a speech read on his behalf, Mr. Olivier Bodson, Country Manager of Beiersdorf CWA, acknowledged the purchase of the food van and commended FFAA for putting the donation to good use. He pointed out that with this increase in transport capacity, FFAA would be able to distribute much needed nutritional support to communities in rural areas that had previously been difficult to access, increase the number of hot meals served to beneficiaries on a weekly basis and facilitate culinary training for mothers and vulnerable youth within rural areas.
Mr. Elijah Amoo Addo, Founder & Executive Director of FFAA revealed that since Beiersdorf’s donation, Food For All Africa has been able to embark on a number of initiatives including:
- Carrying out an assessment on its School Feeding program, Mobile FoodBank kitchen, and Culinary training for mothers and vulnerable youths.
- Re-designing its programs in adherence to COVID-19 safety guidelines.
- Increasing its programs and activities in the Eastern, Central, Ashanti and Volta regions of Ghana.
- Signing up 6,825 children from 25 schools onto its School Feeding program. Distributing 883 food bags, and 2,103 hot meals in November to beneficiaries.
“The Mobile FoodBank kitchen van would ensure Food for All Africa reaches additional number of beneficiaries: 120,000 less fortunate people, 25 schools, 132 communities, and 392 charities,” Mr. Amoo Addo said.
Mr. Amoo Addo seized the opportunity to thank Beiersdorf Ghana once again for the donation and expressed his commitment to utilizing the donation funds responsibly.
