Popular gospel artist/writer/producer/sound engineer Nacee, did set a record as the only gospel artist to garner the most nominations in any edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards with 10 nods – www.entertainmentgh.com can state!
Ironically, while he dominated the nominations, he failed to grab a slot in arguably the most important category of the awards – the ‘Artiste of the Year’.
Music aficionados and critics have raised an issue over Nacee’s snub for the ultimate category.
Nacee got an impressive 10 nominations including – Most Popular Song of the Year, Gospel Song of the Year, Gospel Artiste of the Year, Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Producer of the Year, Sound Engineer of the Year, Best Video of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, Collabration of the Year.
What it means is that, Nacee was popular in all aspect of music artistry; from songs to production to visibility, which also translates into public appeal, so, it should have been an easy task for the VGMA Board to have included his name to list of ‘Artiste of the Year’ category.
Speaking to KMJ on Hitz FM, and monitored by www.entertainmentgh.com, Nacee was modest about his record-making 10 nods and his absence in the ultimate category.
On his nominations, he stated;
“It feels good; it means all the hard work has paid off. It has not been easy.”
Commenting on the ‘Artiste of the Year’ snub;
“I am okay. The Board placed me where I deserve so I am okay.”
He also spoke on his chances.
“I qualify to win in all 10 categories.”
