It is indisputable that the ‘hottest’ track in Ghana now is Kofi Kinaata’s ‘Confession’ – which loosely samples international star, former American Idol Winner, Carrie Underwood’s ‘Jesus Take the Wheel’ song.
In an interview with Happy FM’s Mercy Bee, the artist bemoaned the misinterpretation fans and music lovers are giving to the theme or meaning of his song.
He claims that, people are engaging in excessive drinking while jamming to his song, which is contrary to the message he hoped to project with the hit song.
One would have thought that the reigning VGMA ‘Best New Artist’ of the year, who is flying so high with that banger, would be rejoicing over the growing widespread popularity of the song, but he groused;
“I wanted to use the song to advice people. The message of the song was meant to advice people against drunk driving. So it’s about someone who has done a mistake and confessing but people didn’t understand the message and are rather drinking more. The message is ‘don’t drink and drive’ but people are now drinking even more and confession.”
The High Grade Family-recording artist is yet to shoot a music video to the popular song.
He and his label have been criticized for the delay or refusal to shoot a music video for the ‘Confession’ song in order to help catapult the song.
