Before ‘Mentor’, there were other music reality shows but none was as ground breaking as that from the stables of TV3. The station, in 2006 unleashed unto Ghanaians a music reality show that altered the face and shape of our entertainment landscape.
After a long hiatus, the popular show that birthed some incredible artistes, per checks by www.entertainmentgh.com, is coming back this year. The checks also indicate that, a mega launch is being planned by Media General, owners of TV3 and other affiliated stations.
The popular show was not devoid of controversy as issues with the treatment of winners surfaced and still linger, even many years after the show went on break.
TV3 Mentor did not only make popular figures out of the contestants but also of the judges, especially, Dominic Ansah Asare and Mark Okraku Mantey, whose fame and popularity soared, thanks to the show.
Over the years, the show also saw some interesting hosts, including the likes of Chris Attoh, Dentaa, Anita Erskine and many others.
The first edition of the show, which was won by Prince Baffour also had Samuel Obeng Wiafe, Ruth Williams, Roseline Brown, Martin Kwadwo Asare, Andy Koduah, Hakeem Shabazz, Alfred Broma Donkor, Maya Bennin, Doris Amaniampong, Isaac Nana Assan and Paulette Broom
