The Next Big Shots of GH. Music: Support Them! (Part 2)

Last week, I brought you some amazing talents in Ghana that are doing so well sonically, but are lacking the necessary support to catapult them into super stardom.

The plea is for industry stakeholders to embrace the agenda of supporting our own, instead of dedicating 70% of our space to projecting Nigerian acts and their products.

Talents abounds in Ghana and it would be a herculean task to chronicle all of them, but here, I present the second batch of guys who are doing some refreshing music and are definitely the future of Ghanaian music.

A.I.

This chap is super talented and is effortless on hooks, which is felt on songs like Jay-So’s ‘Making Tasha Proud’ and Vision DJ’s ‘Grind’. With such telling similarities to Bright (Buk Bak) with regards to vocals – A.I is a force on his own, belting out such eclectic notes on ‘Anger Management’ and his most recent single, ‘Paper’.

Worlasi

Worlasi is a consummate artiste: he can sing, rap, produce and can pen thought-provoking lyrics too. In a short spate, he’s garnered high-profile features from the likes of Sarkodie, E.L, M.anifest and others. The future lies in the bosom of Worlasi.

Kwesi Arthur

He is yet to hit mainstream popularity but Kwesi gets critical mention from the big guns’ like Sarkodie, M.anifest and the rest and there’s a reason for that; he is good! His ability to tinker with several genres and do them well, is a major plus, which would see him go places.

DarkoVibes

Almost every producer, mainstream act and even the up and coming, all want a DarkoVibes feature. His style is refreshingly different and his edge is amazingly appealing. His sound, albeit not popular with the traditional music lovers, works with the current millennia and it’s just a matter of time.

Akan

If you a sucker for hiplife, then worry not that Obrafour and Okomfo Kwadee, two legends of hiplife – are past their prime and hiplife flounders. The reason: Akan! This guy is awesome and his ability to channel both Obrafour and Kwadee in his style of rap is heavenly. Hiplife is surely alive!

Cina Soul

In Cina Soul lie soul, pop, blues and a garnish of local flavor – a complete dish. Aside the powerful voice she possesses, Cina has command over live performances and that’s all she needs to excel, especially when given the requisite projection.

Poetra Asantewa

You listen to the likes of Poetra, and you are filled with so much joy, hope and optimism that, the future is bright!  Poetra is a poet, writer and an amazing singer. She is the truth! Efya, Becca, Irene Logan, and Adina: you ladies better watch out -Poetra has, fire hunger, and abundant talent.
