Ghanaian-owned movie awards, Golden Movie Awards, in its 3rd edition, is being rocked by some controversy over its snubbing of many Kumawood films in the nominations of the awards that would take place on July 22 at the Movenpick Hotel in Accra.
This portal, www.entertainmentgh.com has once again picked up concerns being raised by movie lovers, critics and movie stakeholders about the sidelining of Ghanaians in the scheme of the organization of the awards – especially with the hosting of the main event.
Nigerian comedian AY and actress, Osas Ajibade have been contracted by the organizers, NMJ Ghana, to take charge of proceedings of the main awards.
Former Big Brother Africa winner and actor, Uti, is also back as one of the hosts for the Red Carpet segment with support from Ghanaian model/actress, Victoria Michaels.
The organizers have defended the use of the personalities in handling the core duties of the awards, stating that, it is an Awards for Africa and not Ghana.
The event is slated for Saturday, July 22, 2017 at the Movenpick Hotel in Accra, Ghana.
