“Beta Malt Interco”, the Inter-Colleges Athletics Competition sponsored by Accra Brewery Limited (ABL) is drawing to a close with a 2-day super zonal contest amongst participating senior high schools in the Ashanti Region. This will be held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi from 28-29 March 2019.
This year, ABL, manufacturer of Beta Malt, a nourishing true malt beverage partnered with the Ghana Education Service (GES) to organize the “Beta Malt Interco”. As sponsors of the popular Inter-Colleges Athletics Competition (Interco), Beta Malt has refreshed hundreds of athletes over the 4-week period of the games. In addition, in the fiercely competitive games, top performing athletes have also been rewarded with packs of Beta Malt drinks and branded souvenirs.
Head of Marketing, Ms. Ewurafua Addo-Atuah, commented on the success of the partnership, stating that “we leveraged on the popularity of Interco which is the highlight of sporting activities held in senior high schools in Ghana through our true malt Beta Malt whilst inspiring athletes to go all the way up with Beta Malt”.
After weeks of physical endurance through several sporting activities across diverse disciplines, 46 schools in the Ashanti Region will be participating in the super zonal competition. The emerging winners from both divisions will represent the Ashanti Region at the national sports festival this August in Navrongo in the Upper East Region.
Beta Malt Brands Manager, Mrs. Portia Offei Asare, commended the athletes from the various schools. She mentioned that “their grit and resilience is what has brought them this far and it has been inspiring to watch them excel at every challenge”. “I urge them on to strive for success with Beta Malt as their beverage companion.”
The overall best male and female athletes at the National Sports Festival will receive tertiary scholarships worth GHC30, 000.
